What to Consider When Organising a Hen Night

It’s usually the chief bridesmaid, who gets the job of organising the hen night. Now the person in charge can get help by getting a couple of friends to help her out in organising the hen’s party. Well since it’s the bride’s last night of freedom, she gets to select who she wants to invite and who she does not want to see at the hen’s party.

The bride’s in-laws may hand her a list of their women that they want to be invited to the hen party. Now this has to be handled diplomatically. The bride wants to spend the night with her best friends, let her hair down and to have a good time. On the other hand if women from her in-laws are invited, she will have to remain on guard and put on her best behavior.

Well after deciding on the guest list, the next important point to settle is the theme of the party. Is there going to be a male stripper or not? Are the guests going to come in costumes according to the theme of the party? Depending on the theme, guests will need to get their costumes ready. Now most importantly, where will the hen’s party take place? The party can be in a friend’s home, restaurant, club or hotel. It can also be held outdoors at a beach resort.

After deciding the invitees, theme and venue, comes the question of informing and inviting the guests. You will also need to tell them the theme and the venue. This is usually done over the phone. Another important aspect may be organising transport for out of town guests and of course their place to stay. There are hotels, restaurants, and clubs that cater for hen’s parties.

Therefore, if the bride wants one of them as a venue, then you need to call and book the place. This should be done on priority as you don’t want the place to get booked and you are left stranded. It’s always better to line up two, three venues, so you don’t have to change the date of the hen’s party. Changing the date can be quite a hassle.

Now you have to decide the menu. The meal should be a sit down meal and the hen’s party should be a late evening/night affair. Wherever the party takes place and whatever is the theme, alcohol, and plenty of it should be arranged. Women can be very picky about their drinks, so you must know the preferences of the guests.

You may even have to rent out dresses for some of the guests, especially those who don’t have dresses for the party theme and cannot get them.

After making sure, that all the arrangements have been made you may need decorations for the party and some volunteers who will do the decorations. Organising a hen party can be an arduous task so make sure you are up to it. Also, make sure that you have enough help at hand to tackle this job.
